Last year when you entered middle school your circle of friends grew and you learned so many new things regarding different ideas and opinions. I hope that this broadened your own thinking. This was a huge part of your middle school transition.
I stressed the importance of being kind to one another and treat everyone the way you would like to be treated.
Another big middle school issue was learning to communicate better … especially when feelings are hurt or you are up set about something. When a person gets their feelings hurt continually and they are unhappy at school this is a form of Bullying or Harassing and at Adams this will never be tolerated … everyone should feel good about themselves when coming to school and definitely never be afraid at our school !
Also, remember that we have a peer mediation program at Adams that you may opt to use when you seem to be having problems with a particular student/friend …BUT you must first make a genuine effort to communicate and solve the problem before coming to the Adams' Peace table.
Let me remind you again of the importance of organization with your notebooks and the importance of your planner because you do not just have one teacher any more you have multiple teachers and multiple projects and homework assignments. Wow, sometimes I know it may seem overwhelming
but that planner can save you if it is filled out.
And last but not least remember, HOMEWORK in middle school must be completed and turned in … every time you do not hand in an assignment you get a zero in the teachers grade book … That means if you have 5 100’s on your test but you have 10 zeros for homework then your grade will be probably be a F. And that hurts! So, please remember how important it is to get your homework turned in.
Also, you need to have a regular time after school before bed time that is designated just for homework…. As you are getting more homework and more responsibility you need to have that scheduled time.
